Discover the art of storytelling transformed at the County Adaptation Film Festival (CAFF) and step into a world where stories leap from the page, the stage, and history itself onto the big screen.

Held each September, CAFF is a bold celebration of creative transformation—where adaptations take center stage and the journey from inspiration to cinema is honored in all its forms. From literary classics to graphic novels, memoirs to music, CAFF showcases compelling films that reinterpret original works through a cinematic lens.

More than just a film festival, CAFF is a conversation—a place where screenwriters, authors, filmmakers, and audiences gather to explore the power of narrative and its endless possibilities.

Whether you’re a cinephile, a creator, or a curious explorer of stories, CAFF invites you to discover the magic of adaptation in a setting as unique as the films themselves. Join us this fall to celebrate the stories that shape us—and the films that reimagine them.

Our festival explores the art of adaptation on film, spotlights screenwriters and furthers dialogue for curious minds. Working across sectors through private-public-not-for-profit collaborations the festival is designed to create synergies and experiences for participants across the County and beyond.

What's Happening?

Day 1 - Friday September 26

We kick off the Festival with Stephen King and Mike Flanagan’s deeply affecting vision of what it means to live and to matter.

After the film, continue the conversation as we spill out of the theatre for a lobby and laneway party under the stars.

Day 2 - Saturday September 27

We’ve got a jam-packed day of films and conversation with Oscar nominated filmmakers, iconic artists and celebrated writers. Emma Donoghue, Sarah Polley, Sook-Yin Lee and Chester Brown join us to present their work and explore the power of story-telling.

Day 3 - Sunday September 28

The final day of the festival starts with a meta observation of the true crime genre and ends with Steal Away, fresh off its world premier at TIFF, with special guests.
